Acquisition of Nick’s Crane Services Gives Us 28 Reasons to Celebrate!

Jun 2, 2022 | Industry News

Load 28 Crane Hire celebrated over the weekend after taking over the reigns of Nick’s Crane Services, acquiring the business from Nick Eleftheriadis who is retiring after 50 years at its helm.

An end of financial year wrap up was held at Load 28 on Saturday, with Managing Director Marcus Rigney using the opportunity to announce the great news to the company’s valued staff, along with thanking them for their hard work and achievements over what he said has been a challenging and busy year.

The acquisition takes the Load 28 group fleet to 28 cranes, providing 28 reasons to celebrate, as clients will benefit from the added advantage of expanded service capabilities and cranes capable of servicing jobs of all sizes across South Australia.

Marcus spoke passionately about the past, present and future of the Load 28 group, that includes Load 28, Australian Glass Install, Victor Harbor Cranes and now Nick’s Crane Services. He highlighted how the latest key development will propel the business to new heights and recognised and celebrated Nick’s achievements within his business and his contribution to South Australia’s building and construction industry.

“We are proud to carry on Nick’s legacy, one that spans nearly 70 years,” said Marcus Rigney.

“Over the past 50 years, Nick has built his business to be one of the most reputable and esteemed crane hire companies in South Australia and also boasted to be the largest for a long period too. Not bad for a man who migrated to Adelaide Australia from Athens as a 10-year old boy whose family only had 10 pounds to their name on arrival,” Marcus said.

Nick started driving cranes at the tender age of 13 years in the mid 1950’s, claiming he was 17 years old and had a drivers license. He never looked back after that and launched Nick’s Crane Services in 1974.

Marcus said Nick’s Crane Services would continue to thrive under the Load 28 family and would operate as its own entity under the Load 28 banner, paying homage to Nick’s legacy, carrying it forward.

Marcus closed his address with some inspiring and motivational words for his team, encouraging them to always think outside the box, to not be afraid to fail, to dream big, and said that if they ever feel they are going to fall, to always ensure they fall forwards.

Nick’s Crane Services will be managed by Tom Rigney.
