February Update 2025

WE NEED TO BE FUTURE READY!

We need to be future ready. That was the key message I delivered to my team at a recent Crew Brief where I spoke to the importance of navigating change with confidence in the ever evolving construction industry.

It’s not often we get the opportunity to get the team together, but with our workload set to increase exponentially over the next few months, it was the right time to rally the troops and deliver the company’s vision for 2025 and beyond.

My presentation focused on the past, the present and the future; reinventing our pathway, strengthening our identity, and taking a stance on our purpose. Key points included:

  • Past experiences are valuable sources of learning, and insight. They can help us identify our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and future challenges.
  • Understanding where the business is at right now and the skills we and our team provide, and continue to build, formulates the path we need to take.
  • Becoming a future-ready business means we need to understand who we are, how we operate and how we grow. We achieve this by scaling up our ability to learn, innovate, and seek new opportunities.

Last year we identified the need to pivot our business to meet the changing landscape of the construction sector and the developing needs of our clients. We deployed a strategy to provide an encompassing solution to building services on site and ‘The NCompass Solution’ was born, integrating construction hoists and loading decks into our service offering and focusing more vigorously on tower crane operations.

To meet our objectives, the business focused more intently on cross skilling and upskilling our workforce. The new strategy proved successful with multiple builders and projects benefiting from our extended range of services, including Tandem Building Group – Hutt Street, IJ Projects – Waymouth Street, Watpac – Eastwood Hospital and Mossop – Quest II.

The NCompass Solution will continue to grow in 2025 to incorporate innovative technologies, paving the way for the future of Load 28 and the construction industry, and opening up new opportunities for our workforce. Major building projects across the state will continue to benefit from our vision.

The takeaway for our team…the future for Load 28 is exciting, but our business will only be as successful as our people. Creating a culture of open communication, effectively sharing business strategies and goals will require better transparency and requires the efforts and contribution of our entire team. The importance of team unity cannot be underestimated, particularly in an ever-evolving industry.

The Past. The Present. The Future. We Learn. We Work. We Plan. WE BUILD.

STREAMLINING SERVICES

Our team have been working hard at the Railway Terrace Residential project for Build Society. This job is a great example of Load 28 utilising our ‘NCompass’ strategy, streamlining services for our client for better site efficiency.

Our 70 ton mobile crane is deployed here, alongside our 230 ton mobile to lift precast. We have construction hoists and loading decks on site to support the project also.

HARNESSING OUR STRENGTHS

In 2025, we continue to harness our business strengths. We were recently engaged by Downer to supply and install replacement glass panels for the RAH. Our glazing, rigging, and mobile crane team successfully used the Building Maintenance Unit and a 230t mobile crane to replace the panel safely and efficiently. We were proud to receive positive and encouraging feedback from our client “Thank you to our service delivery partners, Australian Glass Install (AGI) and Load28 for the methodical planning and delivery of the project.”

TOGETHER WE WIN!

Marcus recently spent time at 88 O’Connell with the AGI crew, embodying his ethos ‘together we win.’ After a week on site, he received a heartwarming photo from a valued supervisor captioned ‘together we win.’ This photo, showing the team lifting an 8-metre beam, perfectly captures the power of teamwork and reminds us that by combining our strengths, no challenge is too big. Teamwork is about trust, collaboration, and lifting each other up. Here’s to the power of coming together and achieving shared goals!

Tandem Building Group
Austech Facades

Load 28 & AGI are on a mission to deliver 88 O’Connell for Austech Facades and Tandem Building Group. The dynamic facade of window wall, curtain wall, and GRC has not been without challenges, but the result is looking amazing with the team nearing completion of installing 17,779 m2 of panels. Recently the team installed 474 panels in just 16 days! We’re on the home stretch, moving into the ground floor podium.

TRADIE THURSDAYS

Load 28 is excited to continue our partnership with Fresh 92.7 in 2025 for ‘Tradie Thursdays’! We’re traveling across Adelaide, feeding hard-working tradies. Last Thursday, Fiona Rigney, our Customer Service Manager, visited the Somerton Park Stormwater upgrade for NEO Infrastructure. The team enjoyed a break with delicious Villis pies, pasties and sausage rolls and cooled down from the heat with water and Red Bulls. The Site Manager praised the Load 28 team, saying he had never worked with a more efficient and organised crane company. Great job team!
